...how can Gale be a viable love interest for Katniss? What the hell did he contribute to the story? All Gale did was eat bread with Katniss, talk about the Hunger Games, and then watch Katniss kiss Peete. That's all.
Peeta is far more deserving for Katniss. Peeta and Katniss fought together, suffered together, laughed together and cried together. The love Katniss has for Peeta is what motivates her to be proactive and actually fight in the Hunger Games. The love Katniss has for Peeta is what allows both her and Peeta to win the Hunger Games, since Katniss would rather die than be forced to kill the boy she loves.
I don't see how can Gale compare. She offered her bread, whoop dee doo. Peeta is her goddamn soulmate.
